About the Ballet
The ancient story of Esther comes alive in the public debut of this orchestral score written and conducted by Daniel Razvi.
All the intrigue of the story: from romance to villains, from power struggles to personal sacrifice, and good triumphing over evil, are displayed in this captivating musical performance.
As the score for Esther has been written for ballet, there will be several movements showcasing interpretation by Ballet Embody dancers, with additional visual and audio effects throughout the performance.
Come back in time with us and enjoy the sounds and sights of this multimedia public premiere of ESTHER.
About the Composer
Daniel Razvi is a local composer and pianist residing in the foothills of the Catoctin mountains in Thurmont, MD. Daniel’s passion for music began before age 3, causing him to ask for a violin, which he received for his third birthday. By age 6, Daniel added piano to his lessons. Daniel’s family recalls him always composing as a way of thinking and communicating his feelings. By the age of 11 he was teaching piano. That same year he graduated high school.
Daniel began to spend more time composing as he worked on his Bachelor’s in piano performance which he completed at the age of 17. The work of Esther was begun during his last year of college and completed just after he graduated. Though the music of Esther was well known to his family and close friends, it remained private for over a decade while Daniel studied theology and then went on to law school, becoming a lawyer, and opening a law firm. Still, it remained a part of him as he married his wife, Alicia, and they named their daughter Esther.
As Esther was written intended to be a composition for a ballet, this performance will include ballet for some of the movements, with other mixed media throughout, while Daniel Razvi conducts the orchestra in the public premier of Esther.
